We are currently searching for an experienced Guest ServiceAmbassador (Bellperson)to join our team on a part-time basis.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Guest Service Ambassador (Bellperson) -This role is paid a wage of $21.01 per hourfor daytime shifts and a premium rate of $23.01 per hourfor overnight shifts

  • Represent the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver by being the first and last impression for our guests
  • Welcome all guests with a smile and an appropriate hospitality greeting - Welcome to the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver
  • Greet all guests arriving by vehicle or by foot and clearly direct guest to registration area
  • Responsible for the delivery of Guest Luggage and any other items to guest room
  • Conduct rooming for all guests checking in to communicate room controls and features
  • Ensure the timely and efficient transfer of luggage to and from the guest’s room
  • Promote Valet parking service to guests arriving by vehicle, while ensuring all vehicle keys are clearly identified and stored in locked location
  • Ensure all entrances are free and clear of congestion for arrival and departure of guest vehicles.
  • Move and organize vehicles on the driveway
  • Parks and retrieve all guest vehicles
  • Complete thorough walk around of guests vehicles prior to parking and highlight any damage on corresponding valet parking ticket
  • To be noticeably positioned at hotel entrance to provide luggage assistance upon arrival, and departure and assist with the loading and unloading of luggage and ensure that it is sent to the location requested by the guest
  • When requested or anticipated will provide guests with information and answers to questions about Hotel facilities such as; meeting facilities, dining options, local visitor and tourist attractions, and transportation information
  • Provide luggage storage by directing guests to the Bell Desk
  • Report any suspicious or unusual behavior to hotel security services
  • Maintain a presence in the Lower Lobby when not delivering luggage to guest rooms, offering assistance to Guests, under the direction of the Bell Captain
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way
  • Undertakes other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required


Education & Skill Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar capacity within another luxury or upscale hotel brand is an asset
  • Professional verbal communication skills
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Class 5 Drivers License is required
  • Valid SIR (Serving it Right) & Food Safe Certificateswill be required upon commencementof employment
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings, mornings, weekends, holidays and overnight shifts as required
