About Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars

Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars is located directly outside Blackfriars station, a few minutes away from Bank and is a short stroll from St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and South Bank. The Grade II-listed five-star hotel is steeped in regal history, residing on the former grounds of King Henry VIII's Bridewell Palace. The hotel offers 205 stylish guest rooms and suites, 4 meeting spaces, 2 restaurants and 1 signature bar.

Duties and responsibilities related to the Director of Human Resources role 

Our heart (back) of house should offer the same quality of service to our colleagues as we do for our guests in front of house. You will be responsible for delivering strategic HR for the hotel and day-to-day operations of Human Resources, with a team of 3 and area support from Talent Acquisition and Learning. Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Area HR Director– UK&I, you will be one of 10 HR leaders across the UK. 

 

  • Oversee and manage day to day operations of the HR team by delivering on Hyatt’s Leadership Expectations, your generalist HR leadership role will include Talent Management and Retention, Engagement, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Payroll, Internal Communication, Talent Acquisition/Recruitment and Learning & Development  
  • You will drive Colleague Engagement for an employee population of around 120 colleagues, through promoting and living our values and team building 
  • Coaching, supporting and advising Managers and colleagues at all levels, with a hands-on approach. 
  • Supporting in the delivery of Hyatt’s EVP and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy across the hotel 
  • Collaboration with the leadership team as a business partner, including Business Plan implementation, and regular P&L reviews 


About you

  • An in-depth HR generalist practical operational knowledge of applying HR practices, policies and employment law in a fast-paced environment
  • Recent working knowledge of UK employment law and current experience of managing day to day employee relations processes is essential 
  • With an eye for detail and excellent organisation skills, you will be a strong team player with a positive, collaborative and hands on approach 
  • Your communication skills will be excellent and you will be able to manage stakeholders at varying levels 
  • Confident and assured, you will be an effective negotiator and able to affect change and behaviours within HR and influence at all levels across the company 
  • You will know how to measure and use KPI’s and interpret and communicate results in order to help the company achieve its business goals 
  • You will have previous experience using software/systems within HR, specific experience of Fourth or PeopleSoft would be advantageous 
  • An empathetic leader, you will be used to getting things done through your people and will already be an experienced HR leader and team manager
