Company Description

We are looking for a People & Culture Manager to join the opening of SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun, All-Inclusive Collection.

Ennismore, with its luxury brand SLS Hotels, is currently undertaking a magnificent all-inclusive project in the oasis that is Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun, Mexico.  SLS Playa Mujeres Cancun, All-Inclusive Collection is planned to open November 2024.

Introducing the newest gem of dazzling luxury to reach Cancun’s Playa Mujeres area: our all-inclusive hotel offers 500 luxurious keys, complemented by an impressive array of 18 distinct Food & Beverage outlets and a rejuvenating spa sanctuary. Catering to both adults seeking a getaway and families craving connection and some adventure, this hotel brings a wonderland of extraordinary experiences to Cancun, providing an array of amenities and activities tailored for travellers of all ages.

Job Description

Under the general guidance of the Director of People & Culture, our People & Culture Manager is responsible for a variety of Human Resources functions on a daily basis. These include recruiting, onboarding, and training as well as team member engagement, relations and retention.  

What you'll do...

  • Execute the People & Culture Department’s long-term people plan and play a role in its design. 
  • Help position SLS as an employer of choice.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of engagement amongst the team.
  • Champion SLS values and behaviors to ensure they permeate all areas of the business.
  • Work with managers to resolve any team issues and concerns promptly.
  • Administer various People & Culture programs across the property, including recruitment & onboarding, benefits communication and administration, training, and recognition programs. 
  • Ensure the managers of each department maintain compliance with applicable laws and practices. 
  • Exercise strong judgment in evaluating situations and recommending solutions relating to our team. 
  • Partner with the Payroll and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of all information regarding pay & benefits. 
  • Use feedback from team surveys, mystery shoppers and your own observations of the team to create, coordinate and lead training initiatives. 
  • Develop a program of ongoing team events. 
  • Provide support and guidance to People & Culture Coordinator/Generalist, management, and other team when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks under delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Support  learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for team members.
  • Oversee and manage employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts with recruiting and hiring managers, including coordinating/attending internal and external job fairs, conducting interviews, accepting resumes and applications, maintaining a flow in an applicant tracking system.
  • Support the onboarding process by providing appropriate onboarding documents, welcoming new hires, coordinating first day and necessary training including safety, policies, new hire orientation.
  • Maintain Team Member files and accurate HRIS system.
  • Coordinate and assist in reward and recognition programs.
  • Manage termination process, conduct exit interviews and respond to employment related claims.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation training and any other HR trainings as needed.
  • Ensure performance review process is followed from hire through employment; feedback on performance is offered consistently throughout a team member's journey; support is offered and all team members are offered programs to help them discover their best selves.
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional service

 

Qualifications

About you...

  • College Degree in Business, Hospitality, or Related field preferred. SHRM certification preferred
  • At least three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry,  Preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations of the local area.
  • You are organized.
  • You execute.  You get things done.
  • You have an eye for detail and can create and implement ideas, plans and programs.
  • You can hold people accountable but make them feel good at the same time.
  • You are a great communicator, in both English and Spanish.
  • You use discretion and understand that confidentiality is key when handling team issues.
  • You have a high level of energy and motivation towards your work.  
  • You love people.
  • You are humble.  There are no egos, no drama.
  • You have excellent computer and system skills and an ability to quickly learn HRIS and other HR platforms
  • Able to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings. Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours in a day.
  • Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb and carry objects as necessary.
