The Role

Shangri-La Sydney is seeking a passionate Marketing Communications Manager to join our talented team at Sydney’s premier harbourside hotel. This is a full-stack marketing role encompassing brand, communications, public relations, digital and social media, advertising, sponsorship and CRM management.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across a range of B2B and B2C business units, including accommodation, Events/Conferences, Food & Beverage and Spa, to develop and execute cutting-edge marketing campaigns that drive consumer conversion and assist Shangri-La Sydney to achieve business goals.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, Australasia, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing marketing strategies across multiple platforms and channels for both domestic and international markets, business and leisure. You will have the freedom to explore and present innovative ideas that align with the Shangri-La brand standards, while also supporting the hotel's overarching objectives.

As an inspired manager, you will work closely with the leadership team and Marketing Coordinator to evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing and communications initiatives and with your creative and strategic mindset, consistently enhance Shangri-La Sydney's marketing communications efforts.

Core responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team on property and at regional office to drive the hotel’s performance and create outstanding results across marketing channels to maximise revenue opportunities and conversion.
  • Create and execute a hotel marketing strategy that reflects Shangri-La's strategic plan, business planning, and overarching global brand.
  • Plan and manage a highly effective PR strategies for each business unit, delivering exceptional results quarterly to drive business growth and elevate profile.
  • Elevate the performance of digital campaigns, drive conversion, and achieve business goals by providing valuable contributions to owned/earned, organic/paid targeted efforts.
  • Create compelling content across multiple channels, drive traffic and engagement, anticipate market trends, and boost business performance.
  • Management and production of shoots for successful campaigns, from photography and videography, encompassing professional and in-house content.
  • Responsible for the creation of compelling and meaningful messaging and copy across marketing channels to contribute to a strong overall performance.
  • Idea generation and identify partnerships to drive results and boost brand awareness for the hotel.


About you:

  • Minimum of 5-years’ experience in a Marketing and Communications role
  • A Business or Arts Degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related discipline
  • Creative and open-minded and takes ownership and responsibility for projects
  • A true drive to hit goals, meet objectives and deliver success
  • Strong creative copywriting skills combined with excellent communication capabilities
  • High attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Hotel or luxury brand experience will be looked upon favourably, but not essential
