POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all areas within the hotel and entire property.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Engineering: To ensure that all areas of the resort are proactively maintained and that everything is functional and in proper working order. Planning and execution of CARE (Clean & Repair Everything) and Projects throughout the year. Strong Management and Leadership qualities with emphasis on relationship building with all stakeholders.

 

Administration

  • Attend meetings and briefings with Management Team.
  • Ensure that all departmental reports and correspondence are completed punctually and accurately.
  • Develop policies within the maintenance department as needed.
  • Ensure use compliance with various resort systems (ie HotSos, Voxer, BMS, …)
  • Ensure the proper organization, assignment and deployment of tasks and resources throughout the day Ensure that labor and overtime are managed and within the budgetary guidelines.


Personnel

  • Ensure all employees report for work punctually wearing the correct uniform at all times.
  • Assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and development.
  • Ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the resort’s Employee Handbook.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and review their general performance, discuss existing performance and areas of improvement.
  • Conduct Departmental Orientation Programs for new employees to ensure they understand the safety policies and operations of the resort.
  • Ensure that all staff provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
  • Counsel staff members for any breaches of conduct and observe policies when issuing formal disciplinary notice.


Operational

  • Constantly review and appraise the procedures with the department to ensure a high level of productivity and quality work at all times.
  • Participate in recurrent evaluation of physical asset to ensure quality physical plant at all time
  • Ensure the completion of recurrent inspection requirements (ie CARE (Clean & Repair Everything), HotSos, PM…) based on respective timelines
  • Conduct regular briefings with the department staff always ensuring strong communications.
  • Support procurement of tools and supplies for maintenance crew.
  • Always ensure adherence to workplace safety procedures
  • Any other duties as directed by the Director of Engineering.


Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Painting
  • Boiler Maintenance
  • Carpet installation and removal
  • Wood floor installation and refinish
  • Pool and spa maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • Garbage pickup
  • Heating and cooling system maintenance
  • Wood burning and gas fireplace maintenance
  • Cleanliness and all proper maintenance of facilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent is required
  • Work experience as a Chief Engineer or a similar senior level position in a resort environment for at least 5 years
  • Expansive knowledge in electrical maintenance, boilers, and heating and cooling systems
  • Excellent delegation and Project Management Skills
  • Must be a certified pool operator or able to obtain certification
  • Knowledge of various utilities such as solar plants, water treatment, propane, natural well water pump and filtration, residential development, infrastructure upkeep (roads), F&LS installation
